Section of Bangerter Highway to close overnight

Bangerter Highway 7800 S Construction

SALT LAKE CITY – A portion of Bangerter Highway will close Thursday and Friday night, to allow workers to install new bridge girders.

The closures will take place at the intersection of 7800 S. Bangerter Highway.

On Thursday, March 8, UDOT workers will close two lanes northbound and southbound starting at 10 p.m. West and eastbound traffic will also be closed at 7800 S., and traffic will be detoured to a temporary intersection.

Then on Friday, March 9, northbound Bangerter Highway will close starting at 10 p.m., and drivers will need to turn eastbound at 7800 S through the posted detour. Southbound drivers will be down to one lane and one right turn lane. West and eastbound traffic at 7800 S will be closed, and a temporary intersection will be available for drivers to use.

The Utah Department of Transportation is turning the intersection at 7800 S. into a grade-separated interchange, and has already finished work on the intersections of 7000 S. and 6200 S., converting them into Continuous Flow Intersections. The 7800 S. interchange is expected to be completed by late summer.
